MagtiCom is Georgia’s leading mobile operator and was established in 1996. It has over 40 per cent of the market and its coverage area spans 98 per cent of the populated areas of Georgia, the largest coverage area of any network in the country.
Serving more than 3 million customers via its 53 customer care offices and 85 outlets in community centres, MagtiCom is the largest company operating in Georgia and an important contributor to its economy.
Along with a comprehensive suite of mobile services, it also offers other services such as fixed telephony, fibre-optic internet, cable TV and satellite television through its MagtiSat brand, which was the first satellite broadcasting operator in Georgia and the South Caucasus. Currently, Magticom is a leader in every segment of telecommunications in Georgia.
Irakli Rukhadze is a member of MagtiCom’s Board, and Hunnewell Partners manages a minority interest in the company on behalf of its investors.
Charity and corporate social responsibility are important to MagtiCom and it undertakes a diverse range of activities in support of Georgian culture, art and education.
Magti Education has been supporting children and young people for many years. In 2019, it became a partner of the Kings Olympiad, which conducts subject Olympiads for students from 2nd to 12th grade in mathematics, Georgian and English. More than 100,000 children are involved in the Kings Olympics, with applicant numbers increasing every year.
Other educational initiatives include an education support project, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia, which offered all students and teachers at both public and private schools in the country a Magti 20 GB mobile internet package at a discounted price.
For several years MagtiCom has also run a joint photography competition with Neostudio in order to encourage amateur and professional photographers to share their images more widely. Almost 7,000 contestants took part with the winner selected by professional photographers, along with teams from MagtiCom and Neostudio.
